No Man’s Sky is definitely one of the much awaited games this year. This first person survival game is released for PlayStation 4 and Microsoft Windows this month and’s been getting positive reviews everywhere. However, there’s a bunch of users who are complaining about errors, crashes and bugs that they are encountering while installing/playing No Man’s Sky on their PCs. As a routine, we firstly suggest you to have a look at the system requirements of No Man’s Sky. If your PC falls behind the requirements, then do upgrade your PC as soon as possible.

MINIMUM:

    • OS: Windows 7/8.1/10 (64-bit versions)
    • Processor: Intel Core i3
    • Memory: 8 GB RAM
    • Graphics: nVidia GTX 480, AMD Radeon 7870
    • Storage: 10 GB available space

8 Gigs of RAM is the minimum requirement for this game. That’s a bit heavy but yeah, make sure you meet the requirements just in case.

How to Fix Errors, Crashes and Bugs in No Man’s Sky PC:

#Does this game support XBOX controller:

As far as we know, the game does support XBOX controllers. However, if the controller doesn’t work, just make sure that you have updated the drivers. Also, use 3rd party software like Joy2key if you are finding difficulty in customizing the controls.

# Can’t download the game:

First of all, make sure that there’s no failed payment. Also, make sure that you have atleast 10GB of empty space in the disk where you’re going to install the game.

# Game Crashes on startup Fix:

There’s a list of crashes that are encountered by the users so far. We have a probable workaround for all the crashing issues that are encountered in No Man’s sky. Just follow this workaround to solve the issue.

Firstly, it’s important to know the source for this crash. Sometimes, crashes do come up with error codes and details. Do make a note of them and comment if possible. However, the most general solution for Crashing issues is updating the Drivers. However, making a clean install of the drivers can be tricky sometimes and it’s time consuming too. We recommend you to use Driver Scanner, a tool that updates the drivers on one click. To do,

  • Go here
  • Now, click on “scan for drivers”
  • It’ll prompt you to download the Driver scanner.
  • Install it and scan your PC using it.
  • From the results, you can update the drivers by one click.

#DLL error in No Man’s Sky Fix:

First of all, make sure that you have updated Microsoft Visual C++ and DirectX. If the error still persits, then we recommend you to use DLL File Fixer, a tool that is specifically made to solve the DLL errors.

All you need to do is just follow the simple steps listed below and you’ll end up solving the error. This software we mentioned has a success rate of 99%

  • First of all, download Dll-Files fixer from here
  • Now, from the interface, you can see a giant Search Tab.
  • Now, input the name of dll file in the search tab. The fixer will automatically install the file in required location and you can get back to enjoy the game.

# FPS drops issues on Laptop- No Man’s Sky Fix:

4 – Enable Steam Cloud again

  • justin

Yeah. Crashing on startup. All drivers updated within last week. Very tedious process on new awesome PC. I have been able to play all the other games in my steam library with no issues. So it’s not a driver problem, I could use the workaround mentioned in the article, but there is no link or information about these workarounds?

    • Matt Hazelton

I went directly to the executable file in program folders and got a missing MSVCR100.dll error

      • Bored SysAdmin

        install MS Visual C++ libraries

      • Ethroden

It has to do with Microsoft C++, guys download and install the Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2013 this should fix the issues.

  • Richard

Same here, not getting past the initial start up of the game. This is getting frustrating

    • Harvey

      whats your specs

      • Richard

        i5, 64x, 8 gb ram, Intel HD Graphics 5500

        • SB

I think you are going to have major issues running NMS using Intel HD Graphics 5000…

          • Richard

That may be the case, but I doubt its the cause of the crash

        • Kathryn Horne

I’m on an i7, 16 gb ram, Intel Pro Graphics 5200 and I’m crashing to desktop right at title screen.

          • SB

Using built in graphics for this game will probably not work well – from another game site: a Nvidia GTX 480 is the minimum graphics hardware or an AMD HD 6970, but I suggest looking for more powerful. Perhaps a R9 285 or GTX 960.

          • Vibes

Will my AMD HD 6950 work ok?

          • Bored SysAdmin

Nope. HD 7000 minimum, 7870 is listed in official min requirements

          • Bored SysAdmin

Close, but min req for AMD cards is 7870, not 6970.
This is due to OpenGL4.5 support

          • Bored SysAdmin

same reply as to Richard above. you need real video card.

        • Vibes

I’ve got an AMD Phenom II x6 2.8 | AMD Radeon HD 6950 | 8 gb ram, it also crashed when the hello games logo appears

          • Bored SysAdmin

6950 not supported. 7870 is minumum

        • Bored SysAdmin

son, you need to get real video card. Look for good sale on GTX970

          • Richard

I’ll use what I got if it works, and if it doesn’t, no big deal.

        • SykoticLemming

I solved it on my system – was using my Radeon HD6790 – checked the OpenGL version – 4.4 – 4.5 not supported. So I ripped out my 6790 and am now running it on my R7s on my APU.

It works, but game buggy as hell!

  • Matthew Alan Carroll

this article is usless. that driver scanner tool does nothing but try to get you to buy it. Who ever set up this page is basicly a troll.

  • Sean J Parrott

    Instant crash to desktop

    updating drivers

  • Sean J Parrott

Don’t bother using some 3rd-party tool to update drivers, just do it yourself. I’ll post on progress.

  • fx 6300
    8gb ram
    gtx 760
    30fps or below.. :'(

    • brad rock

Jsut wait theres a load of issues once path is pushed it’ll be better

  • Butters Stotch

cant boot, crash instant to desktop i have latest drivers win 7

  • Mel

Anyone else using AMD cards getting crashes on startup?

    • Sean J Parrott

Nvidia, crash on startup. Updated drivers, trying again

    • Adam

Radeon 6900, Crashes alittle after the Hello Games screen…

      • J

Same as me, shows the the Hello Games logo and then tells me the software isn’t working.

        • Vibes

          Same for me

      • Bored SysAdmin

6900 is not supported. 7870 is clearly listed in Min Req.

    • Mat Thew Hamilton

same. im not sure if it’s my amd card or my amd processor

    • Luciano

      same here

    • SB

Win 10 x64, AMD Phenom II X6 1090T R9 280X graphics card, CTD straight after the “Hello Games” splash screen on launch. Downloading update to Win 10 version 1607 to see if that helps. Also I should note running the latest AMD 16.8.1 beta driver.

No luck, updated drivers, instant crash to desktop.

    • disqus_em5YfkbWdk

Same. I see the Hello Games splash screen and then instant CTD.

      • anoos1114

        SAME !

        • jeff

          same

      • Sean J Parrott

Why was my comment deleted? I just said crash to desktop after driver update…hey guys, don’t use their weird driver updater. You should only get drivers from your manufacturer, or Microsoft/Apple.

        • I’m not quite sure what’s going on here. We just mentioned it as an option.

  • Sean J Parrott

For the record, I didn’t use some janky driver scanner, just used Geforce Experience.

  • Harvey

i have intel i3 8gb gtx 770 graphics card and the game wont launch

  • jerome haldemann

Same for me wont start i updated all my drivers bit nothing. I guess we will all just have to wait for the day-one fix :/

  • Sean J Parrott

18MB patch just pushed, did not resolve issue, still crashing on startup.

  • Husabram

After the intro the screen went white and crashes! What should i do?

    • TrevorNock

      No one knows yet

  • Ben Higgins

I, along with basically everyone here in the comments section, am also having instant crashes when opening from Steam.

Getting the same error too.. running it installed on my system drive – Samsung SSD 850 EVO 500GB.

    • Sean J Parrott

I don’t think this problem can be rectified by running chkdsk. This problem is likely caused by something the devs didn’t anticipate. I’m just gonna go get food, and wait for a patch.

    • Jibbyjamjamjam

I actually played for two hours. I restarted the game successfully a few times during that time.

Then I got a BSOD and haven’t been able to get back in. Crash to desktop after Hello Games splash screen. Deleted save files and entire game and reinstalled, with no luck.

      • Matheus Tormen Fornara

I had the same problem here. After playing 42 min yesterday, i tried to play it today and the game is crashing after Hello Games. After updating amd driver, the game loads, but as soon I try to move my mouse it stops working. Any success?

  • brad rock

Guys we gotta wait they screwed it up and they are seeing it in reviews already few good reviews all bad are from the startup issue hopefully they fix this fast.

  • Sean J Parrott

Verified game cache, refreshed steam files, disabled multiple monitors, checked Nvidia 3D settings, so far no solution. It does look like we’re going to need to wait for more patches.

Oh well, this is the kind of thing that happens all the time, with PC releases. Good things come to those who wait.

  • Esa Martiskainen

same here win10 64-bit with Nvidia card. I dont even get error.. just splash screen “Hello games” and then wait for couple minutes and back to desktop. No error.

    • DominusWolfen

i get the same error, no way to fix it yet, they did say they were gonna release a patch to fix this tho

  • ichliebenixe

I’m using 2 nvidia 690’s in SLI and it crashes for me…

  • PXNN

Hey there’s no way this game is going to work without an aftermarket graphics card is there? I have windows 10

    • Luke Bouley

Intel GPU’s are not supported. in fact, using any integrated graphics system for heavy duty 3d gaming is not a good idea

  • punkfruit

    same here

  • RW

redit said switching from amd 6900 to nvidia 560 fixed it… im using crossfire amd 6890s and white screen of death every time. maybe open GL version issue… 6800 series only supports 4.4 and maybe the game requires 4.5??? either way im fkd

    • Luke Bouley

yes, it has been said that the game supports OPENGL 4.5 only. so update that if possible. Not my problem, i still have the error, but it might fix yours

  • Feddy von Wigglestein

1.) There’s SIX GENERATIONS of i3s. Which frigging one is minimum?
2.) For users of AMD CPUs, which one is minimum?

I mean, the min GPUs are several years old, so who knows what in the world they mean by Intel Core i3?

  • Michael Wilbur

Same happening for me. The Hello Games logo appears and then it crashes with “The program has stopped working” dialog.

    AMD Phenom II X4 955 (3.2 GHz)
    16 GB DDR3
    Nvid GTX 670
    Windows 10 Pro (x64) (v1511)
Using XBOX 360 Wireless Controller (which is actually off at the time of load)

Updating my GTX drivers. Will have more in a bit.

    • Michael Wilbur

I also installed MS Visual C++ libraries. Still crashes.

    • Michael Wilbur

Latest GTX670 Drivers Installed, rebooted. Same Issue.

    • George Lazar

Have you solved this? This is really annoying and frustrating.

      • Michael Wilbur

Nope. Too much for me and as I would love to play someday, have refunded the game. I am considering a PS4

    • Dennis Pierce

      Same problem here.

    • Kevin MajinDude Adcock

It’s the same issue that people have with MGSV. I doubt you’ll be able to play this game with a Phenom CPU

      • Michael Wilbur

Thanks for the feedback! I realized this on Sunday and refunded the game. I hope to play this game at some point and have been highly considering just buying a “No Man’s Sky Console 4″… aka PS4

  • Feddy von Wigglestein

It appears certain CPUs won’t let you run the game. I’ve a Phenom II as well and it won’t go past the logo screen. Everybody pretty much in this thread has a Phenom/Athlon II as well:

    http : // steamcommunity . com/app/275850/discussions/1/360672137535529618/?ctp=41

Therefore it appears that unless you’re willing to upgrade your CPU solely for this game, you’ll have to request a refund. I’ve gone with the latter option. (sorry for the spaces, it appears linking things in posts requires ‘approval’.)

    • Luke Bouley

That is excessive. Hello Games may be a bit overwhelmed, but they themselves recognize the bug and are working on a fix. returning the game before they have even had a chance to correct it seems a bit knee-jerk to me.

    • Sean J Parrott

Yeah, this is the cause of the error, but they said in a statement that even though those procs are below spec, it shouldn’t be crashing.

  • George Alexandru

i have FX thats support sse4.1,but it still crashes with the white screen thing

  • liko2k

I cannot restore game window once I minimize it… :/

    • TrueStory

Click the fuck out of it, that’s how I got mine to come back.

      • liko2k

I found solution: you just need to go to Task Manager, expand the No Man’s Sky process and bring back to front “Application”. Works every time.

  • Taranlols

after opening the game it says {No mans sky} and keeps loading
after that the screen turn white and then it crashes
it does not tell to hold (E) and crashes before that help me out

  • taranlolz

y my comment was deleted ???

  • Slippster Starpilot

epic Epic EPic EPIc EPIC E P I C FAILURE- THIS GAME IS NOT WORTHY OF ALL THIS BACKEND MANEUVERING TO MAKE IT WORK.
WHAT A JOKE. PISS POOR PERFORMANCE. AND ON LAUNCH NO LESS! LAUGHING MY ASS OFF.

  • Star Spadek

i have this issue that after the no mans sky intro pop up and it shows space all around me, then the game closes on me for no reason and no error message. Any recommendations?

  • Sean J Parrott

All right, folks! After a few days of sweating, and opting into the experimental branch, all of my startup crash issues appear to resolved.

None of the user fixes even put a dent in it, it was the lack of SSE4.1 and SSSE3 support, in my CPU.

Can’t play at the moment because I have to work, but I got solid gameplay in, no crashes!

    Great job, developers.
