Error Fixes for Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen PC- Crashes, Bugs, Stuttering, FPS drops


Dragon’s Dogma is an exciting Role-playing gaming franchise from Japan. They released their first installment in 2012. This new game Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen is the next chapter which boasts of delivering a huge brand new area, missions, enemies and more, plus all of the content from the original game. However, there have been some issues that are not enabling the players from installing the game on their PCs. These issues include crash, bugs, stuttering issues, and many hardware related issues. Most of these can be solved by following simple workarounds which we have listed here. Firstly, we recommend you to have a look at the system requirements of Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen. #1: Controller not working:

This game clearly supports xbox and other controllers. If your controller is not working, most probably it’s not recognized by your PC. Just install the drivers of your controller (from the CD) and replug it. It should work fine.

#2: Black borders in the game Fix:

Just follow the workaround we mentioned below to solve the problem

  • Open The Game Folder(C:\Users\YOU\AppData\Local\CAPCOM\DRAGONS DOGMA DARK ARISEN)
  • Open the config.ini
  • Make the following change

set MainX=0 and MainY=0

  • Save and Start the Game.

#3: Game crashes to desktop Fix:

If you have encountered any of the following crash,

  • Game crashes to desktop on startup
  • Game crashes after changing the settings
  • Game crashes during the gameplay
  • Black screen on startup
  • BSOD

Since there’s no particular solution for these crashes, the only workaround that solves these most of the time is updating the drivers and making a clean install. You need to make some changes in Configuration file to solve the problem.

#5: FPS drops in-game fix:

To solve the issues,

  • Open nvidia control panel
  • Go to “Manage 3D settings”
  • In the drop down menu, click on “Power management mode ” and set it to “Prefer maximum performance”

#6: Stuttering issues in game Fix:

Turn off the V-sync, update the drivers and unplug the unnecessary input devices from your Computer. Also, make sure that you aren’t running any heavy background tasks other than playing the game (if you have a low end PC )

#7 : Disk read error in Dragon’s Dogma :

If you are encountering this error, make sure that you atleast have 20GB free space in the drive where you’re installing your Game. Also, run steam as administrator. If these didn’t help, verify the integrity of game cache files an restore any missing files.

#8: D3DERR_DEVICELOST Error in Dragon’s Dogma Dark Arisen

To fix this error, go into your “C:Users[YOUR ACCOUNT]AppDataLocalCAPCOM” folder, you’ll see a little ini file. Edit it in Notepad. Make sure that you have a backup copy.

Change “VSYNC=ON” to “VSYNC=OFF”
