Injustice 2’s Sub-Zero DLC Set To Release In July
Injustice 2’s next character is just a few weeks away and the character’s list gets a big boost next month. Mortal Kombat mainstay Sub-Zero will be playable in the superhero fighting game from this July. Creative Director Ed Boon reveals the exact date Mortal Kombat regular Sub-Zero will be available in Injustice 2, When the DC fighting game Injustice 2 was released across platforms in May, despite a pretty full roster of existing DC heroes, hype was already building for those extra characters you would be able to download at a later date. Sub Zero will be the first crossover character from the Mortal Kombat series but might not be the last. One big change is that Injustice 2’s Sub Zero will have access to a new ice clone ability, which was shown during an E3.
“Now serving as Grandmaster, Sub-Zero vows to redeem that honor, pledging to defend the realm from threats near, far, and beyond,” the official character description explains.
Creative director Ed Boon announced this on Twitter, revealing that Sub-Zero is due out on July 11. He shared the news with a reference to Game of Thrones (Season 7 of which also debuts in July) saying, “Winter is coming…in July.”
The three new fighters consisted of Starfire, Red Hood, and Sub-Zero. All three characters are included as part of the $20 Fighter Pack 1 DLC, which bundles them with the Gods shader pack and a Power Girl Premiere skin. Those who purchased the Deluxe or Ultimate editions of the game get these three characters for free. Those who have special editions (and access to the season pass) of the game will be able to download the fighter on the stated day, and he should be made available as a separate purchase in due course. It was revealed recently that the popular fighting game was May’s top-selling game in the US, and the upcoming addition of Sub-Zero will likely keep Injustice 2‘s recent run of momentum going. For now, though the Injustice 2 spotlight is on Sub-Zero but can expect further additions to the roster to continue to arrive, well after Starfire and Red Hood have joined the team of Injustice 2.
