Ubisoft’s Latest Title for iOS and Android – Assassin’s Creed Rebellion
While Assassin’s Creed: Origins was definitely Ubisoft’s primary focus this year, the company’s mobile gaming division had been working on its own project to attract the attention of Android/iOS users. According to an official statement, Assassin’s Creed Rebellion is going to be the latest addition to the franchise’s long list of mobile-based games. In the past, Gameloft, Ubisoft’s sister company, and Ubisoft Mobile were used to basing their games primarily on the PC titles of Assassin’s Creed. Recently, however, they have been trying to move away from the existing storyline to create somethin more innovative. To that end, they have decided to collaborate with Behaviour Interactive to build a game where all the heroes from different Assassin’s Creed timelines are brought together through an alternative storyline. The following teaser, released on the company’s official YouTube channel on June 27, gives us a glimpse into what this game could look like:
One thing that catches our eyes immediately is that the artwork has been completely overhauled, resulting in a more cartoonlike feel. We can also expect changes to the gameplay that could make this game similar to Fallout: Shelter, involving the creation and maintenance of a stronghold. However, certain features of the previously used side-scrolling action-oriented style of play are likely to be retained. It will surely be interesting to see how this experimentation plays out, once the game is released.
